Margie helstrom
Margie Helstrom is an artist who lives and works in Hermantown Minnesota. Her love and experience of drawing and painting has been lifelong. She is self-taught and has taken various workshops and classes at the college and community levels. To her, painting is a dance and a dialogue combining substrate and paint. Her compositions utilize the value of intuition and freedom which can be seen with each layer of paint. She works without a predetermined idea of what the painting will be in the end and loves that element of surprise. Viewers are drawn to her work by her masterful use of color, strong composition and whimsical perspectives of her subject matter. Her inspiration comes from light, shadows, natural arrangement, patterns of nature and her interpretation of interior and exterior experiences. She continues to be in awe of the incredible beauty in our world and the creator of it. She identifies with the Don Clark quote: "My faith dictates every aspect of my being. art is just one outpouring of that". She loves to share her love of art and painting, whether that is demonstrating a technique or knowing that a piece of her work touches someone's soul. That is what keeps her creating.
