Art is a journey, and I am an explorer. Art for me is about discovery & visual storytelling. Each image and sculpture I create is in some way a self-portrait.

In my clay work, the forms present themselves to me. Clay is a beautiful kind of therapy, with my hands, totems are born of clay, fire, pigment oxides, and glass. My subject matter varies, but my main focus has been the female archetype. Feminine Archetypes to consider while viewing my work might be The Mother, The Huntress, The Sage, The Healer, The Queen, The Visionary, The Teacher, The Creatrix and The Maiden. I am also interested in animal totems: especially the owl. The owl is emblematic of a deep connection with wisdom and intuitive knowledge. An owl totem symbolizes wisdom, intelligence, and protection.

My encaustic work is a harmonious contrast of modern technology and antiquity. In my process, I layer digital imagery into one of the oldest mark-making mediums, beeswax and tree resin. I try to blur the lines between the past, present, and future in technique and subject matter. I want each piece to emotionally and spiritually touch the viewer. To do this, I often start with an old photo that I digitally manipulate and collage as the first step of creation. Then, using archival pigment, Japanese tissue, and encaustic medium, the art is brought to life by hand-painting with pigmented wax. Because of this process, each is a unique piece of art.

I have made a life and a living as an artist and a creative by working in fashion, product, surface, and graphic design. I studied fashion design at FIT in NYC and drawing at the Art Student League in NYC. I have working art studios in Minneapolis, MN & San Miguel de Allende, MX.
