Joe Larson
“Art has the potential to reveal the sacred beauty and spirituality hidden in the mundane. A celestial light transforms ordinary things like flowers, vases and boats into mystical visions. It transports us beyond our everyday lives.” ~Joe Larson
Artist Joe Larson’s paintings have mainly been inspired by Vincent Van Gogh (a fan suggested to him that he should call himself “Van Joe”!). He has been very prolific since the pandemic, creating nearly 130 works of art in his signature impressionist style. These paintings are generally small, perfect for gift-giving or displaying on a shelf or easel. His art is often influenced by flowers in his garden, colorful birds and still-life arrangements. Props are often his husband Charlie’s collection of Fiesta dishware. His paintings are very textural and play with light and shadow. He has recently painted some cups and saucers that have gotten a lot of attention. Joe muses that it is interesting how a painting can convey a sense of joy and hope, yet also reflect subtle melancholy and sadness. Joe is a semi-retired pastor with a passion for people and creativity.
